Professor Charles Waiswa is currently the head of the Uganda Trypanosomiasis Control Council Secretariat, the Coordinating Office for the Control of Trypanosomiasis in Uganda (COCTU), Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries. He carries over 20 years’ experience in tsetse and trypanosomiasis research using the one health approach, especially in the area of animals as reservoirs for sleeping sickness in Uganda.
He has also adequately interfaced with the policy issues related to sleeping sickness control in Uganda in addition to being a supervisor to several students in the area of Neglected Zoonotic Diseases in Uganda where he has published some of the work.
